Review Date: 31st May 2020
New Guidance: The outdoor community has been eagerly awaiting an update to the government guidance issued on Sunday. It's been confirmed that outdoor sports are permitted, with a strong emphasis on us taking full personal responsibility for social distancing and risk management. As part of this, Sport England have confirmed that instructors and coaches can begin to work on a 1 to 1 basis. Our business has developed over the past decade to establish some core values that underpin our whole business activity. All of our decisions are pinned around these values. As much as this is excellent news for individuals looking at getting out and enjoying more time outdoors - we don't quite feel the time is right for us to open just yet.
Our Community and Responsibility: As part of a rural community, it's important that we respect the impact that we have on communities more than ever, and ensure we help maintain and build those good relationships for the future, whilst slowly demonstrating some sensible and cautious return to outdoor activities in the not too distant future. We're very aware of how important it is to reduce the impact on certain honeypot areas, where communities have already expressed concern around increased numbers of visitors, and the importance of keeping travel to a minimum. Our feeling is shared with the Peak District National Park, who have released a statement asking people not to rush back immediately.
“You have a whole life in the outdoors, you realise you have a sense of responsibility to protect these wild places.” Yvon Chouinard
Risk Management: We deal with risk and manage it on a day to day basis. During the coming 2 weeks, I will be looking and testing out what socially distanced courses looks like and how risk can be mitigated. Of course there are certain activities which are going to be significantly easier to manage. We will be considering what our procedures will look like moving forward and how we can operate in this climate. All of this is with our staff and customers safety being a top priority.
Our Current Position: We remain closed for the time being. We are constantly reviewing the situation and like a lot of our customers...can't wait to get out. We will review this prior to the 31st May as the situation develops.
For existing bookings: Our revised Covid-19 Terms and Conditions are in place. We will get in touch with you prior to your course about deferring your course and how to re-book.
For new bookings: New bookings are welcome and can be booked for any date in the future. These will be able to be rescheduled without any charges should we need to push things back. You will not lose your money, the course will be delivered when we can.
Enquiries for 1:1 Tuition: Please register your interest with us for 1:1 tuition, should our position change for low risk activities such as hillwalking on a 1:1 basis we will be happy to schedule a date. Please email us at info@pureoutdoor.co.uk.
